I have earned a Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Methods as part of my doctoral studies, and my research work lies primarily in these areas:
Critical studies of children’s and young adult literature (all media). I study children’s and young adult literature for the ways in which it can help people of all ages to explore and to better understand themselves, the world, and beyond. Text analysis. My dissertation work explicates the cross-modal, nonlinear, narrative processes of interpreting texts, and I use a variety of research methods to study fiction and non-fiction texts of all forms and genres. Arts-based research. I use drama, poetry, and embodied literacy practices to theatricize analysis, to summarize and express data, and to engage others in discussions about contemporary literacy issues. Distance and online teaching/learning. I study course presentation structure, online pedagogies, and communicative strategies designed to foster interactive communities of learning. |
