CONTRIBUTING TO COMMUNITY LIFE 2018 - 2019
Facilitator and Presenter Educators Workshop
In June 2018, I participated as a facilitator and presenter in an Educators Workshop titled Confronting the Environmental Crisis: An Ethical Problem, co-sponsored by the Florida Humanities Council and Eckerd College. Held on the Eckerd College campus in St. Petersburg, the workshop was offered to Florida science teachers, media specialists, teacher educators, museum and park docents, and similar professionals. During the week, participants explored environmental issues through games, literature, drama, poetry, art, and field trips. I helped facilitate a session of the role-playing game developed by Professor Dan Spoth that took participants across campus as they navigated post-apocalyptic scenarios. Following this activity, I led the educators through a series of activities on various ways the environment is or is not depicted in children's and young adult literature.

Peer Reviewer Academic Journals
This past year, I was asked to review articles for two academic journals. In August 2018, I reviewed an article for Education Policy and Analysis Archives (EPAA). In October 2018, I reviewed an article for Journal of Teacher Education (JTE).
Panel Organizer SAMLA
After attending a session sponsored by the American Humor Studies Association at the 2018 SAMLA Conference in Birmingham, Alabama, I volunteered to organize a panel for the 2019 SAMLA Conference. In December 2018, I developed a CFP that I sent to a number of organizations for distribution. The CFP, "The Many Languages of American Humor," which is attached below, invited media scholars from any and all disciplines to submit proposals.
